MEGAUPLOAD founder Kim Dotcom has been making the best of life under house arrest.

While awaiting a decision on whether he will be extradited to the US to face piracy charges, the founder of the file sharing website invited a bunch of his followers around for a pool party.

All via Twitter.

User Ben Gracewood tweeted Dotcom, asking him whether he spent all day driving around on motorbikes and posing for pictures, to which the Megaupload founder replied saying: “Come over now!”

Mr Gracewood gracefully took up the offer and went round to his New Zealand mansion for a dip, along with two other Twitter users.

And to prove it Dotcom tweeted a picture of him with his posse, in the pool all on the hashtag #swimatkims.

“Wow that was fun,” Dotcom tweeted, hinting that an even bigger pool party may be on the cards in the future.

“#Swimatkims will return for everybody,” Dotcom tweeted. “Need a big public pool. Awesome DJ. Sound & Lights. Who’s in?”

That man certainly knows how to make a splash.

Dotcom’s interview

Dotcom was arrested in New Zealand in January as part of one of the world’s biggest copyright infringement cases after his file-sharing site Megaupload was brought down by US authorities.
Prosecutors allege the piracy cost movie studios and other copyright holders at least $US500 million ($515 million) in lost revenue.

The defence argues that MegaUpload and its officers cannot be held responsible for legal breaches by its users.

In April, the New Zealand High Court ruled that the FBI return $750,000 of his frozen assets including a Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG and Toyota Vellfire seized during a raid.

Three ads for Samsung’s new Galaxy S III suggest a confidence on the part of Samsung. Any Apple-bashing is implied, rather than expressed. However, look closely and he who played an Apple fanboy now has a Samsung.

InstaGlasses?

With over 50 million users (Android and iOS combined), there seems to be nothing that can stop Instagram from photo domination. If the Socialmatic camera didn’t make you drool for a physical Instagram camera, perhaps these sunglasses with built in real-time Instagram filters will.

Designed by Markus Gerkes, Instaglasses takes Instagramming to the next level. On the right side of the glasses are buttons for switching filters that let you see the world through filtered lenses. Then, when you like an adjustment, you simply take it a photo on the spot with the built-in 5-megapixel camera.

It’s similar to what Google’s doing with its Project Glass augmented reality glasses.

The Instaglasses feature Wi-Fi and 3G, 2GB of onboard storage (not sure why you would need this since Instagram photos are stored in the cloud) and a seven hour battery life.

Alas, it’s just a concept design. Sigh. What a tease.

For those embarrassing mistakes people make in their Facebook posts, there is finally some relief.

The giant social network said Friday it started allowing users to edit their comments, avoiding a more cumbersome deletion.

“For instance, if I join a thread and write a long comment but make a typo, I’ll now be able to go edit it instead of having to delete it and repost,” spokeswoman Johanna Peace said.

“We’ll also be showing the editing history for a comment so that subsequent commenters or likers have the full context of the conversation. It’s rolling out now and should be live to everyone in the next couple days.”
